This high-performance hunter class presents competitors an opportunity to best showcase the talents of horse and rider over a challenging course with high performance, handy and “take your own line” options. The class combines a Hunter Classic with a Handy Hunter class in a one round format.
The class may be run at one to three heights:

The Series is in no way meant to represent extreme sport for hunters. Course elements that are not appropriate include jumping any type of water. Course designers should always assess the competition / environment and use best judgment to determine an appropriate track on the day.
Walk
High Performance Options - five high performance jump options worth two points each must be offered.
Options can include:
Handy Options – opportunities to be handy should be built into each course. Successful execution of handiness is rewarded with up to 10 additional bonus points.
Handy opportunities include:
3’6 points will be kept for National Championship qualifications.

The class may be run at one to three heights:
- 3’6 with 3’9” – 4’3” options (3/5 must be at least 4’)
- 3’3 with minimum 3’6 options
- 3’ with minimum 3’3 options
At least 12 jumps should be offered on course and may consist of:
- Traditional hunter jumps
- Natural jumps: bank, post and rail, board fence/gate, stone wall, logs, hedge, brush, pens/chute, skinnies
- No trot jumps or any test which discourage pace and flow

Walk
- The 3'6 track must be available for competitors to walk. If a class is run at multiple heights, the 3'6 portion should run first. If not, the 3'6 track must be opened to walk when set.
- Scratch and Sniff: up to the discretion of the horse shows but is discouraged for National Championships and Finals.

- High options- At the 3’6 height, three of the five high options must be at least 4’
- Square oxers
- Flat cups
- Skinny fences
Handy Options – opportunities to be handy should be built into each course. Successful execution of handiness is rewarded with up to 10 additional bonus points.
Handy opportunities include:
- opportunities for an impressionable start and finish
- inside turns and jump slice opportunities
- opportunities to leave out strides
- opportunities to display athleticism and boldness (e.g. big gallop to jumps)
- challenging line options
- challenging jump placements
3’6 points will be kept for National Championship qualifications.
